A denomination of Judaism that believes the Torah is of Divine origin and that Jews are bound to keep Jewish law (halachah). There are many subgroups within Orthodox Judaism including ultra-Orthodox (Haredi), Modern Orthodox, Chasidic (which includes Chabad, Satmar, Breslov, and others. “Orthodox Judaism” is also used as an umbrella term for a range of streams of Judaism that developed in opposition to the rise of Reform and Conservative Judaism.
